IFSPA 2015 – INDUSTRIAL SESSION – A GROUNDING AT ANCHORAGE

The International Forum on Shipping, Ports and Airports (IFSPA) brings together academic researchers and industry practitioners to examine important issues related to shipping, ports, and airports. This year, with the support from Institute of Seatransport and Hong Kong Logistics Management Staff Association, the Forum starts to run the Keynote Sessions and Industrial Sessions in parallel on 30th afternoon.

Vessel loaded bulk ore cargo at anchorage – grounded shortly after pilot disembarked – engaged floating crane and tugs to lighten vessel – fire on board – fire extinguished by fire hoses from attending tugs – Lloyd’s Open Form signed retrospectively – vessel refloated and towed to nearby port for necessary repairs – cargo reloaded after repairs – resumed voyage.

  • The Casualty gives rise to numerous questions to consider with a few selected specific issues to study/discuss – for the purposes of this workshop will focus on:
  • Dispute under charter – unsafe anchorage and/or port

Salvage – whether piece meal or LOF Various General Average aspects arising

    Security

Claims on Hull & Machinery policies of insurance and P&I cover

Roles of various claims practitioners being involved
